Cancer prevention

General information about the campaign

Why did TÜV SÜD develop a game on cancer screening?

TÜV SÜD has been running the colon cancer screening campaign for over 10 years. For the first time, the current campaign takes a holistic approach to the topic of cancer prevention, i.e. it focuses on different types of cancer and uses a gamification approach to convey knowledge in a new format. The game "Guardians for Life" is intended to raise awareness and make the non-cancerous aware of the danger of cancer and the great importance of cancer prevention. The game itself is not a preventive measure.

What is the campaign's goal?

We would like to encourage people to deal with the topic of cancer prevention in a playful way. We can all sustainably reduce our risk of developing cancer through various measures such as a healthy diet and sufficient exercise. The first step in this process is to deal with the topic and learn about risk factors and preventive measures. By seeing a direct impact on their score caused by their actions in the game, depending on whether they collect a risk factor or perform a preventive action, players learn what works positively and what works negatively.

How long does the campaign run?

The campaign will kick off on World Cancer Day, February 4th. The campaign itself will run until March 18th, 2022, during which time three levels on different types of cancer can be played and colorectal cancer screening test kits can be requested.

Are all contents medically verified?

Yes, of course. We created all contents in close collaboration with our healthcare partner ias health & safety GmbH and International SOS who have reviewed the contents from a medical point of view.

Why are we running a cancer prevention campaign?

Worldwide, one in six deaths is due to cancer - even during the current pandemic. Therefore, it is even more important to take preventive measures and reduce your own risk. For example, through sufficient exercise, regular preventive checkups and a healthy diet.

Is participation on a voluntary basis?

Yes. Addressing the topic of cancer prevention is advisable, as statistically two out of three people come into contact with cancer directly or indirectly in their lives.

Who can participate?

All employees may participate. Likewise, interested third parties may be invited to play via the share function in the game.

Is there anything to win?

We don't gain any material prizes, but an increase in health knowledge is the best benefit, especially in these times.

Where can I find further information on the topic of cancer prevention?

For this purpose, we have set up separate information pages for you . Here you can find more information on colon cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer and breast cancer.
